Resurfacing, 2009

series of graphite pencil and pen drawings on Fabriano

I have captured the liminal membranes of leaves on the edge of oblivion as an experiment with liminality; resurfacing and redefining the paper; and . I used the images of leaves partially destroyed between tyres and tarmac, a temporary resurfacing of the road as a way to explore aspects of being and self: gravity/floating, solidity/frailty and skin/self.
